Not every workshop works on gas. Andrew’s Mechanical is an LPG mechanic for Blacktown and the surrounding suburbs, handling LPG installation, servicing, repairs and compliance certificates, as well as petrol and diesel fuel system cleaning and repairs. The workshop is at 3 Goulburn St, Kings Park, a short walk from Marayong station.

What’s included

  • LPG installation – fitting an LPG system to a suitable vehicle.
  • LPG servicing – filters, the converter (vaporiser), hoses and connections, and checks for leaks.
  • LPG repairs – starting, running and switchover faults on gas.
  • LPG compliance certificates – ask us when you book what your vehicle needs.
  • Fuel system cleaning and repairs – for petrol and diesel systems, including injectors, fuel pumps and filters.

Our LPG car servicing guide covers what’s involved and how often to book.

Signs your LPG system needs attention

  • A smell of gas. LPG has an added odour so leaks can be noticed. If you smell gas, turn the engine off, turn the gas off at the tank if it’s safe to, keep away from flames and sparks, and get it checked before driving on gas again.
  • The car is hard to start on gas or keeps switching back to petrol.
  • Rough running, hesitation or backfiring on gas.
  • A drop in power or a jump in gas use.
  • The gas gauge reads incorrectly or the tank won’t fill properly.
  • Ice forming on the converter, or the engine running poorly until it warms up.

Fuel system signs

  • Hesitation or stalling, especially when accelerating.
  • Rising fuel use without a change in how you drive.
  • Hard starting, or a check engine light pointing to the fuel mixture.

Keep the tank paperwork in order

Automotive LPG tanks carry a test date and must be retested or replaced when it runs out. If you’ve bought a used LPG car, check the tank’s data plate and any paperwork that came with the installation. If you’re unsure, bring the car in and ask us to look.

Why book with us

  • We are a licensed NSW motor vehicle repairer, licence MVRL47744.
  • We service both the gas and the petrol side of dual-fuel cars, along with the rest of the car – see car servicing.
  • We’re an Authorised Inspection Station and carry out AUVIS inspections, so ask us when you book whether the pink slip or blue slip for your gas vehicle can be done on the same visit.
  • We’re a local Kings Park workshop near Marayong station, handy for Blacktown, Lalor Park and Seven Hills.
  • Call the workshop during opening hours to book.

Many LPG cars and utes are business vehicles. If you run a few, see fleet servicing.

Frequently asked questions

How often should an LPG system be serviced?

Follow the interval recommended for your system, which is usually checked alongside your normal car service. LPG filters and the converter need regular attention to keep the car running well on gas.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Turn the engine off, turn the gas off at the tank if you can do so safely, keep away from flames and sparks, and have the system checked before using gas again.

Can you install LPG on my car?

We carry out LPG installations. Not every vehicle is a good candidate, so call us with the make, model and engine to talk it through.

Do you issue LPG compliance certificates?

Yes, we handle LPG compliance certificates. Ask us when you book what applies to your vehicle.
