Andrew’s Mechanical is an independent workshop at 3 Goulburn St, Kings Park, a short walk from Marayong station. If you need a car service in Kings Park or a logbook service close to Blacktown, we look after logbook servicing, major and minor services, oil and filter changes and the routine checks that keep a car safe and reliable. We work on all makes, including 4WDs, diesels and European cars.

What’s included

  • Logbook servicing – carried out to your manufacturer’s schedule for your car’s kilometres or age.
  • Minor services – engine oil and filter change, fluid top-ups and a general safety check of tyres, brakes, lights and wipers.
  • Major services – the larger scheduled items your logbook calls for, such as filters, spark plugs and fluid replacements, on top of the minor service.
  • Oil and filter changes – using an oil that meets the specification for your engine.
  • Battery testing and replacement – before it lets you down.
  • Tyre rotation and balancing – to even out wear and stop vibration through the steering wheel.
  • Roadworthy and safety checks – a once-over of the safety items before a long trip or a sale.

If you are buying a used car, book a pre-purchase inspection before you hand over any money. If your rego renewal says you need a safety check, we can do your pink slip as well.

Logbook servicing and your new car warranty

You don’t have to go back to the dealer to service a new car. The ACCC’s position is that having your car serviced by an independent mechanic does not void the manufacturer’s new car warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s specifications and suitable parts are used. More detail in Logbook servicing: will an independent mechanic void my warranty?

Signs your car is due for a service

  • The service reminder is showing on the dash, or the sticker on your windscreen says you’ve passed the kilometres or the date.
  • The oil level is low on the dipstick between services, or the oil looks black and gritty.
  • The engine idles roughly or uses more fuel than it used to.
  • The brakes squeal, the pedal feels different or the car pulls to one side.
  • The engine is slow to turn over on cold mornings, which often points to a tired battery.
  • The tyres are wearing unevenly or you can feel a vibration at highway speed.
  • You are about to drive a long way, tow a trailer or sell the car.

Many logbooks list a shorter service interval for towing, short trips and dusty roads, so check which schedule fits the way you drive.

Frequently asked questions

How often should my car be serviced?

Follow your logbook. Many modern cars are set at every 10,000 to 15,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first, but it varies by make and engine. No logbook? Call us with the make and model.

Will servicing at an independent workshop void my new car warranty?

No, not if the service follows the manufacturer’s specifications and suitable parts are used. That is the ACCC’s position. Keep the stamped logbook and your invoices as a record.

What is the difference between a minor and a major service?

A minor service usually covers the oil and filter change plus basic safety checks. A major service includes those items as well as the less frequent jobs in your logbook, such as filters, spark plugs and fluid replacements. Your logbook decides which one is due.

Do you service European cars, 4WDs and diesels?

Yes. We work on all makes, including European, 4WD and diesel vehicles. Mention the make and model when you call so we can book the right service.
